Poor President didn’t seem to have gotten enough vacation time at his Crawford luxury barn, so he’s headed to the infamous Kennebunkport Estate for some R and R. Lets pray he doesn’t receive any memos or PDBs while he’s there. In Light of this weeks Spike Lee documentary on Katrine, take a look at this interesting Katrina Timeline…interesting given Karl Rove’s revisionism campaign.
In postwar Israel, Olmert loses support
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's popularity has plunged sharply after Israel's war with Hezbollah and he would likely be crushed by the right-wing opposition if elections were held now, according to a poll published Friday.
Gen. Batiste: Rumsfeld ‘Served Up Our Great Military A Huge Bowl of Chicken Feces’
Today on MSNBC, retired General John Batiste — former commander of the First Infantry division in Iraq — said that it was “outrageous” Rumsfeld was still in charge of the Pentagon. Batiste added, “He served up our great military a huge bowl of chicken feces, and ever since then, our military and our country have been trying to turn this bowl into chicken salad.” Watch this here
Coulter: Bin Laden Is ‘Irrelevant,’ ‘Things Are Going Swimmingly In Afghanistan’
Last night on Hannity and Colmes, guest host Kirsten Powers confronted Ann Coulter about President Bush’s failure to capture Osama Bin Laden and the rapidly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan.
Coulter responded, “As for catching Osama, it’s irrelevant. Things are going swimmingly in Afghanistan.” Powers blasted Coulter for her answer. Coulter then abruptly decided to end her participation in the middle of the segment, saying, “OK, well, good night! It was nice being here.”

Rush Limbaugh Quote
On which team will win the new “Survivor” contest: “Well, no, I’m — looking at the Olympics, you’d have to say the white tribe would be the best swimmers. … Well, now, wait, wait a second, though. If the Hispanic tribe has a Cuban in it, those people swim 90 miles, you know, sometimes for freedom. So you know, you just never know. That’s why you’ve got to watch the show.” [Is it just me…or is blatant racism back with a vengeance –maybe that’s Rove’s new tactic]
Rep. Shays (R-CT) Plans To "Cut and Run"
Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT) is the latest member of Congress to advocate a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq. Shays has visited Iraq 14 times. This morning on Fox, he said that the way for the United States to succeed in Iraq is to “incentivize the Iraqis” to take control of their own country. The way to do that, according to Shays, is to let them know “there is a limit to our presence there.”
Shays noted that previous timelines — to hold elections and create a constitution — are what has spurred the greatest progress in Iraq.
“The government awarded 70 percent of its contracts for Hurricane Katrina work without full competition, wasting hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in the process,” according to a new report from the House Committee on Government Reform’s minority office.
